Mesa, AZ - On the first night of the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout, Mesa drew a tough opponent in Snow College and the Badgers got the best of the T-Birds, 81-67.
It was a quick start for Snow in the first half, jumping out to a 30-8 advantage in the first ten minutes of the game.
Mesa worked it back to a 30-17 deficit with a couple Obi Megwa jumpers, an Antwan Ross-Jones three pointer and two free throws from Edward Hardt. But Snow pushed the ball and went on a 12-4 run and solidified a 51-24 advantage at halftime.
The T-Birds showed a bit more life in the second half, outscoring the Badgers 43-30 but falling behind so much in the first half really hampered Mesa into a big comeback.
Mesa is now 8-2 overall and will play the loser of the San Bernardino-Big Bend game at 4 p.m. at Theo Heap Gym.
