Men's Tennis Fall Against DI University of Arizona, 7-0

Tucson, AZ – Taking on likely it's toughest opponent of the year, the University of Arizona, the Mesa men's tennis team was competitive, but fell to the Wildcats, 7-0, Sunday.

"We didn't come out with the energy needed in doubles to get us off on the right foot," noted head
coach Adam Cohen.  "U of A held the momentum through singles. Matt Fisher put up a tough fight in singles against one of their best players. We should be able to take away a lot from the match but we play enough D1 schools to know we have to come out strong as a team."

MCC's top matches featured No. 1 singles player David Felix falling to Shoti Meparidze, 6-2, 6-3; Fisher at No. 3 singles dropping a 6-2, 6-4 match to Alejandro Reguant and Eduardo Couto in a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Will Adkisson.

The T-Birds are now 2-2 on the year while the U of A has a 2-1 record.  Mesa will take a break until Feb. 16 when it will host Western New Mexico at 1:00 p.m. on the MCC courts.

The T-Birds edged WNMU, 5-4, earlier in the season.
