Bryant wins heptathlon as Region I championships get under way

  Mesa, AZ – Catherine Bryant won the heptathlon title as the Region I Track and Field Championships got underway Tuesday at John D. Riggs Stadium with the multi events.

  Bryant posted 4390 points for the seven events which would currently rank her fourth in the nation in the NJCAA.

  Her only event victory was the high jump, but she placed well enough in all events to win by 85 points over Courtney Brown of Paradise Valley.

  For the MCC men, Xavier Johnson took second place with 6682 points in the decathlon. He won the long jump and high jump,

  The remainder of the Region I Championships will take place Tuesday and Thursday of next week at John D. Riggs Stadium.
