  Glendale, AZ – The Mesa women's tennis team captured its second consecutive Region I championship Wednesday.

  The T-Birds won eight of the nine flights and scored 26 points, easily out-distancing Eastern Arizona which had 18.

  Khanh Huynh was named conference Player of the Year and won at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2 over Eastern Arizona's Amalie Saint-Dizier.

  She headed an all-ACCAC, all-Region I team that included teammates Yolanda Carlon, Julia Ortiz, Hannah Nelson and Michelle Fournier in singles. All also earned honors in doubles along with Naa Ankrah.

  MCC will compete in the NJCAA national championships in Tucson, May 6-12.
