MCC Track & Field has announced that Daniel Pescador will become the Interim head coach for the 2025 season.

With the retirement of long time head coaching legend Steve Jacobs, the T-Bird Track & Field program turns to Pescador to carry on the torch.  Pescador is currently the head coach of the Men's & Women's Cross Country teams a role he has had and seen success with since 2015.

On the men's side, Pescador has led his team to four straight Region I Runner-Up honors and three top ten finishes at Nationals in the last three years. When it comes to the Lady T-Birds, Pescador has seen tremendous success capturing the Region I title in three seasons since his arrival (two in the past three seasons) and has had five top five finishes at Nationals.

Pescador has been the distance coach for the Track & Field program, has had dozens of All-Americans, and has helped send many to DI programs to continue their athletic careers.

Stepping in and filling the shoes of a historic program is not something Pescador takes lightly.  The success that Mesa's Track & Field program saw during Jacob's time was no accident and with taking over for his former head coach, Pescador only hopes to build upon past success.

"Coach Steve Jacobs has made a lasting impact and a tremendous legacy during his time here at Mesa College. He has taken great pride in transforming what our facilities are. I'm honored to step into the interim role, and continue the success that he's had, and the success that we as a staff has had over the last 10 years," said Pescador, "he's laid the foundation of what a successful program looks like. I am excited in taking on the challenge to continue to elevate the program to new heights and carry on the success that the Thunderbird Track and Field programs have been accustomed to."
