MESA COMMUNITY COLLEGE ATHLETICS FINISHES NINTH IN 2025-26 RON CASE CUP STANDINGS

Mesa Community College Athletics finished ninth in the final 2025-26 Ron Case Cup standings presented by Daktronics and administered by the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA).

The Thunderbirds totaled 106.5 points to earn their highest finish since the 2021-22 academic year. The ninth-place finish marked the program's 11th top-10 finish in Ron Case Cup history while also making Mesa the highest-finishing Region I institution and the second-highest Division II program in the nation behind only Cowley College.

The Ron Case Cup recognizes overall athletic department success by awarding points based on team finishes at NJCAA national championship events. Each year, NATYCAA evaluates more than 400 scholarship programs across the country, using national championship results to determine the final standings and identify the most successful athletic departments in the NJCAA.

Mesa's point total was fueled by another exceptional year across multiple sports. Women's cross country captured its second consecutive NJCAA Division II National Championship, while women's golf earned an eighth-place national finish. The men's cross country team placed fifth nationally, and women's tennis added a 10th-place finish at the NJCAA National Championships. Beach volleyball also contributed a third-place national finish. The Thunderbirds produced numerous NJCAA All-Americans and national award winners throughout the year.

The ninth-place finish further strengthens Mesa's reputation as one of the nation's premier junior college athletic departments. The Thunderbirds have now recorded 11 top-10 finishes in program history and continue to rank among the NJCAA's elite athletic programs year after year.
