FORMER THUNDERBIRD ERIC NACHTSHEIM EARNS BASEBALL AMERICA SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICA HONORS

Former Mesa Community College pitcher Eric Nachtsheim continues to add to an outstanding collegiate career, earning Baseball America Second Team All-America honors following the 2026 season at McNeese.

The recognition marks Nachtsheim's second All-America selection this postseason after previously being named a Perfect Game Second Team All-American. He also collected ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team honors, was selected First Team All-Southland Conference, and was named the Southland Conference Relief Pitcher of the Year.

Nachtsheim put together one of the nation's top pitching seasons in 2026, finishing with an 8-4 record, three saves, and a 3.39 ERA across 20 appearances, including nine starts. He struck out 129 batters in 93.0 innings, leading the Southland Conference and ranking eighth nationally while setting McNeese's single-season strikeout record. He also posted a 1.10 WHIP and limited opposing hitters to a .227 batting average.

One of his signature performances came on March 6 when he struck out 16 batters without issuing a walk in a complete-game victory over HCU.

Before continuing his career at McNeese, Nachtsheim established himself as one of the top pitchers in Region I during two seasons at Mesa Community College.

During the 2023-24 season, he earned First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Region I honors after compiling a 6-3 record with a 2.64 ERA, ranking fifth in the conference. He made 16 appearances, logged 71.2 innings, and struck out 83 batters, the third-highest total in the conference.

Over his Thunderbird career from 2022-24, Nachtsheim posted a 7-4 record, recorded 109 strikeouts in 116.0 innings pitched, and finished with a 3.72 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 8.49 strikeouts per nine innings.

Mesa Community College congratulates Eric on another outstanding achievement and wishes him continued success as he adds to an already impressive collegiate career.
