T-BIRD MOMENTS OF 2025-26: MCC VETERANS EARN SWVF SCHOLARSHIPS, MEN'S SOCCER ROUTS GATEWAY
Mesa Community College celebrated three students who were selected as recipients of the 2026 Southwest Veteran Scholarship Foundation Scholarship, highlighting the college's commitment to supporting veterans and military-connected students.
Markus Hans Marti, Luis Miguel Ramirez, and Paige Elizabeth Rosen were each awarded $1,500 scholarships after being selected among just five recipients statewide. The recognition reflected the leadership, resilience, and academic excellence of MCC's veteran community while underscoring the college's continued dedication to helping military-affiliated students achieve their educational goals.
Another memorable moment came on the soccer field as Mesa Community College Men's Soccer earned a convincing 6-1 victory over Gateway Community College on Sept. 20 at John D. Riggs Stadium.
After trailing early, the Thunderbirds responded with six unanswered goals to improve to 3-1-2 overall and 2-1-2 in ACCAC. Jace Forsberg, Michael Esquivel, Blessed Ekeleme, Brayan Perez, Zach Lanman, and Blaise Mboneza each found the back of the net, while Brody Donovan recorded three assists in one of Mesa's strongest offensive performances of the season.
