BEACH VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS JUSTICE IN DOUBLEHEADER

Mesa Community College beach volleyball delivered a dominant performance on Friday, sweeping Justice University in both matches to complete a 2-0 day.


MATCH 1: MCC 5, JUSTICE 0

The Beach Birds opened the day with a clean sweep, winning all five pairs matches.

Mesa controlled the top flights as Marley Avechuco and Brianna Anderson set the tone with a straight-set win at No. 1 (21-9, 21-10). Isa Folau and Jayden Arrington followed with a dominant 21-4, 21-6 victory at No. 2.

Emma Hildwine and Infinity Jutting secured the clinch at No. 3 in straight sets, while Arys Palmer and Paige Thompson battled back after dropping the first set to win in three at No. 4. Regan McFarland and Isabella Jackson closed out the sweep with a two-set win at No. 5.


MATCH 2: MCC 5, JUSTICE 0

Mesa continued its momentum in the second dual, again sweeping all five courts.

Avechuco and Anderson led the way once more at No. 1 with another straight-set win (21-9, 21-11). Hildwine and Folau dominated at No. 2, while Arrington and Jutting secured a convincing win at No. 3.

Palmer and Thompson rolled in straight sets at No. 4, and McFarland and Jackson capped the day with a hard-fought 23-21 second set victory at No. 5 to finish off the second sweep.


With the pair of 5-0 wins, MCC improves to 10-12 overall on the season.

The Beach Birds return to action Thursday against Park University and Justice University.
