Thompson Rivers University
Mesa Community College Baseball navigated a demanding five-game stretch of conference and non-conference play, producing explosive offense, dominant pitching performances, and a pair of tightly contested battles with Paradise Valley.
vs. Scottsdale CC — W, 24-15
Mesa opened the stretch with a statement offensive performance, erupting for 24 runs on 18 hits in a back-and-forth slugfest. The T-Birds scored in seven different innings, including an eight-run seventh and five-run eighth to pull away late. Austin Miller led the charge with four hits and five runs scored, while Isaac Low drove in five runs and Reid Linkmeyer added three RBIs. Jesse Aguirre also contributed four RBIs as Mesa's lineup overwhelmed the Artichokes' pitching staff.
vs. Scottsdale CC — L, 8-7
Mesa nearly completed the series sweep but fell just short on the road despite a late rally. The T-Birds trailed early after a four-run first inning from Scottsdale but chipped away throughout the game. Noah Allison delivered the biggest swing with a three-run home run, while Reid Linkmeyer and Luke Mann each drove in runs as Mesa cut the deficit to one in the ninth before the comeback stalled.
vs. Paradise Valley — W, 4-3
Returning home, Mesa leaned on pitching and timely hitting to edge the Pumas. Daniel Hesse delivered another dominant outing, throwing 6.1 scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and striking out eight to remain unbeaten on the season. Offensively, Austin Miller went 3-for-4 at the top of the lineup, while Isaac Low, Noah Allison, and Francis Panko each produced RBIs. Mesa scored in the second, fifth, and sixth innings to build a lead that held up late. Anthony Flacco would shut the door on PV in the 9th inning as the Pumas had the tying run on third but Flacco earned a gorund ball out to end the game.
at Paradise Valley — L, 4-1
In the return matchup, Mesa was held in check offensively despite collecting seven hits. Beau Tarwater accounted for the lone run with a solo home run, while the T-Birds were unable to string together hits against the Pumas' pitching staff. Paradise Valley used timely hitting across the middle innings to secure the split of the series.
vs. Thompson Rivers — W, 10-5
Mesa closed the stretch with a strong bounce-back performance, pulling away from Thompson Rivers University with a late offensive surge. Ryan Salcedo powered the offense with a six-RBI performance that included a home run, while the T-Birds scored in five different innings to erase an early deficit. Mesa's bullpen combined to shut down Thompson Rivers over the final frames, allowing the offense to extend the lead and secure the victory.
Mesa will continue action this week with a non-conference series against Arizona Christian University on Tuesday and Wednesday before returning to ACCAC play for a two-game set against Gateway. Both conference games against the Geckos will be played at MCC.
