Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds were able to get back into the win column with a victory Wednesday night over the Glendale Gauchos, 92-78.
Three players scored nearly two-thirds of Mesa's points on the night, as Nik Nehls and Cam Burist each finished with 20 points while Jeff Perez finished with 18 points. Perez also finished the night with six rebounds and six assists.
Offensively, Mesa shot 33-57 (.579) on the night, connecting on seven three-point shots while overpowering the Gauchos in the paint, outscoring Glendale, 40-26.
There were 10 lead changes throughout the night but it was the T-Birds who took a 44-39 advantage into halftime while outscoring the Gauchos 48-39 in the second half to earn their fifth overall victory on the season.
Mesa will travel down to Arizona Western this coming Saturday night, tipping off with the Matadors at 7:30 pm.
