Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds dropped its opening game of the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout Friday night to the New Mexico Thunderbirds, 61-54.
With the loss, Mesa will move to the loser's side of the bracket and play Saturday afternoon at 4 pm against the loser of the Midland-Salt Lake game.
