Mesa Men's Basketball Plays Flat, Can't Overcome Early Deficit in Loss at Eastern AZ, 82-61

Thatcher, AZ - The Gila Monsters started hot and stayed hot, going up early and never looking back as they defeated the Mesa Thunderbirds in the Region I - ACCAC DI semi-final game, 82-61.

Eastern AZ controlled the momentum of the game from the tip as they jumped out to a 9-0 lead.  Mesa didn't score its first points till about the 13 minute mark of the first half.

The T-Birds trailed going into halftime, 43-23, with 15 of those points coming from BJ Burries.  The second half played out much like the first half as they T-Birds could never create any momentum or rhythm while Eastern continued to attack the basket and get easy buckets.

With the loss, Mesa's season is now over.  They finished the season with an overall record of 17-14.
