THUNDERBIRD MEN’S GOLF SITS THIRD AFTER ROUND ONE OF REGION I CHAMPIONSHIPS
Mesa Community College Men's Golf sits in third place after the opening round of the NJCAA Region I Championships at Ocotillo Golf Course.
The Thunderbirds posted a team score of +8, placing them within striking distance of the top two heading into round two.
Trey Moss led the way for Mesa in round one, carding a 1-under performance to sit in sixth place individually.
Mesa's depth showed behind Moss, with Tanner Thompson, Karter Samprone, and Kush Shah all tied for 11th at +3. Nathan Giles rounded out the Thunderbird lineup, currently sitting in 19th at +12.
South Mountain holds the team lead at -12, followed by Chandler-Gilbert at +7, with Mesa close behind at +8. Paradise Valley rounds out the field at +18.
The Thunderbirds will look to close the gap as the tournament continues at Ocotillo Golf Course.
