Mesa Takes 3-0 Victory at Home vs Gateway Saturday Night

Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds men's soccer team took a 3-0 victory from visiting Gateway Saturday night at John D. Riggs Stadium.

Posting their second shutout in as many games, Mesa controlled momentum and offensive attack throughout the night.

Scoring first for Mesa was Jesus Garcia, a header in the 25th minute with the assist coming from Alec Herrera.  The T-Birds held a 1-0 lead at half.

In the second half, Preston Grayson put Mesa's second goal on the board, also with a header, with the assist going to Nabil Laroussi.  For Grayson, that is his fifth goal in just two matches.

The final goal was put in by Andres Hernandez with the assist again going to Alec Herrera, all in the 66th minute. 

Goal keeper Isaiah Garay recorded his second shutout on the season as he made two saves on the night.

Mesa moves to 2-0 on the season and will play next Thursday at home against the Glendale Gauchos, beginning at 7 pm.
