Mesa Men's Soccer came up just short against the No. 2 team in the nation on Tuesday night as they fell to Phoenix College, 4-3.
The three goals that the T-Birds scored ties the most allowed by the Bears this season, and is triple the amount of goals Mesa scored against the Bears in their first meeting.
The Bears scored first in the 24th minute off a penalty kick but the T-Birds would answer back in the 35th minute as Tyler Haren would score his second goal in two games with a header off of an Elliot Katz throw in.
The Bears would add to their total right before the half, scoring just a minute after Haren as they took a 2-1 lead into the halftime break. Out of the intermission Hayden Kos (assisted by Edgar Anaya Perez) would tie the game with the second T-Birds header for a goal.
In the 71st minute the Bears would take the lead but Michael Esquivel would tie the contest right back up in the 73rd minute thanks to an Isaac Semini assist. In the 80th minute PC would score the deciding goal off a header that slipped past Mesa keeper Jordan Hagen.
With the loss Mesa's record falls to 7-6-1 (7-6-1 ACCAC). The T-Birds will be back in action next Tuesday as they hit the road to take on Scottsdale in a conference contest.
