Austin John Named Region I Men's Field Athlete of the Year

 Mesa Track & Field athlete Austin John was named the Region I Male Field Athlete of the Year after an outstanding track and field season marked by multiple championships and All-American performances.

John made a strong impression during the indoor track and field season by earning All-American status with an 8th-place finish in the Weight Throw. Building on that success, he dominated at the Outdoor Region I Championships, capturing the Region I crown in the Discus Throw, Hammer Throw and Shot Put. 

His impressive outdoor season continued at the national level, where John once again earned All-American honors by finishing 8th in the Hammer Throw at the Outdoor Nationals. These performances have firmly established him as one of the region's top field athletes.

Head Coach Daniel Pescador expressed his pride and enthusiasm for John's achievements, saying, "Very proud of and excited for John! He's been an amazing student-athlete, teammate, and leader to have on the team. John worked extremely hard all year and I'm so happy to see it pay off!"

John has committed to Western Colorado University, where he plans to continue his athletic and academic career.
