MEN’S 4X800 RELAY TEAM SETS SCHOOL RECORD, EARNS ALL-AMERICAN HONORS

The Mesa Community College men's 4x800 relay team made history at the NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships as Deng Majak, Michael Valenzuela, Josef Iker and Corbin Pyle broke the school record with a time of 7:32.28.

The Thunderbirds placed sixth overall in the national championship race to earn NJCAA All-American honors while delivering the fastest 4x800 relay performance in Mesa Community College history.

Competing against the nation's top junior college programs at New Mexico Junior College, the T-Birds put together a strong team effort from start to finish. Mesa stayed in contention throughout the race before closing with a record-breaking performance on the national stage.

The historic run continued a standout season for the Thunderbird distance program, which has consistently rewritten the record books throughout the 2025-26 campaign.

Majak, Valenzuela, Iker and Pyle now hold the Mesa Community College school record in the men's 4x800 relay while adding NJCAA All-American honors to their resumes with a sixth-place national finish.
