The Mesa Thunderbirds officially punched their ticket to the 2019 Region I / ACCAC DII tournament Saturday afternoon, despite two tough loses at Pima to finish the regular season.
Mesa needed to either win one game today or if they lost both games at Pima, they needed South Mountain to lose both its games against Central Arizona. The latter happened for Mesa, and they will be the #4 seed in next week's tournament.
It's a two day tournament and it will take place Friday and Saturday, May 10th and 11th, with all the games being played at the highest seed, which is Phoenix College.
The T-Birds and Paradise Valley Pumas tied with the same amount of conference wins with 19 but Mesa wins the tie-breaker as they beat the Pumas all four games this season.
Phoenix College is the #1 seed with Chandler-Gilbert and Glendale securing the #2 and #3 seeds. The Coyotes and Gauchos will play first on Friday morning followed by the Bears and T-Birds. Official start times will be announced on Monday along with the all-conference teams.
