Mesa Softball won their first game of the season on Saturday as they split their DH against Chandler-Gilbert.

Game one:

Mesa was not able to withstand an eight run third inning by the Coyotes as mistakes compounded in the frame leading to a huge momentum shift. MCC was also unable to string hits together as they had just six compared to CGCC's 14. The game ended in just five innings due to a run rule.

Game two:

The second contest was anything but a pitchers duel as the teams combined for 33 runs and 33 hits. Mesa led the game 7-1 going into the third inning but again let the Coyotes explode in the frame as they put up seven runs. The T-Birds would answer in their half scoring two to regain the lead.

Back and forth the teams would joust as both teams scored in three of the final four innings. Eventually Mesa was able to outlast the Coyotes as they scored in the bottom of the seventh to earn the walk off victory.

With the split Mesa sits with a record of 1-9 (1-9 ACCAC) on the year as they travel to take on Paradise Valley on Tuesday.
