SOFTBALL STRUGGLES OFFENSIVELY IN LOSING WEEK

Mesa Community College Softball navigated a four-game week that included two ACCAC contests against Scottsdale Community College followed by a non-conference doubleheader with the College of Southern Nevada.

Mesa opened the week with conference play against Scottsdale, falling 16-0 in the first game as the Artichokes erupted for 19 hits and multiple big innings. Audrey Reeder and Audra Ashton recorded the T-Birds' two hits in the contest.

In the conference finale, Mesa battled but came up short in a 3-1 loss. Alyssa Antillon led the offense with two hits, while Audra Ashton drove in the lone run. Sydnee Taylor delivered a complete-game effort in the circle, allowing three runs on seven hits.

The T-Birds then shifted to non-conference play against the College of Southern Nevada. In the opener, Mesa dropped a 7-2 decision despite collecting 10 hits. Meadow Owens had two hits, Alyssa Antillon drove in a run, and Shawnacy Serrano connected for a solo home run to account for the scoring.

Mesa closed the week with a 13-3 loss in the finale. Sammy Alcantar paced the offense with a three-hit performance, while Serrano drove in all three runs for the T-Birds.

After the week's slate — which included two conference games against Scottsdale and two non-conference matchups with CSN, Mesa's record now stands at 1-9 (1-7 ACCAC).

The T-Birds are back in action on Tuesday at home against No. 11 Phoenix College then on the road against Central Arizona College on Saturday in non-conference action.
