Paradise Valley Community College
Mesa Community College Softball continued ACCAC play this week, opening with a doubleheader at Chandler-Gilbert before returning home to face Paradise Valley.
CGCC — Game 1
Mesa dropped the opener to Chandler-Gilbert, 4-2, despite holding the Coyotes scoreless through the first four innings.
The Thunderbirds scored both runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-RBI triple from Sammy Alcantar. Chandler-Gilbert answered late with four runs across the final three innings to complete the comeback.
Sydnee Taylor went the distance in the circle, allowing four runs (two earned) with four strikeouts.
CGCC — Game 2
Mesa's offense produced 10 hits in game two but fell 11-7 to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Sammy Alcantar went 4-for-4 at the plate, while Alyssa Antillon drove in five runs, including a home run. Skylynn Salazar-Bell also added a homer as Mesa battled back after an early deficit.
PVCC
The Thunderbirds responded at home with a dominant 15-4 run rule victory over Paradise Valley in five innings in game one of the series.
Mesa scored in every inning and finished with 12 hits. Alyssa Antillon and Meadow Owens each crossed the plate four times, while Sydnee Taylor drove in five runs and earned the win in the circle with five strikeouts.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the second game of the doubleheader against PVCC was rescheduled for a later date to be determined.
