No. 8 Women's Basketball extends winning streak to five games after victory over Phoenix College

No. 8 Mesa Women's Basketball extended their winning streak to five games on Saturday as they took down Phoenix College on the road, 70-49.

The T-Birds shot 24-52 (46.2%) from the floor while hitting 5-11 (45.5%)  three-pointers in the victory. Mesa had a big second quarter outscoring the Bears 23-7 after entering the period up just one point.

MCC's offense stayed consistent throughout the rest of the game, scoring 18 and 17 points in the third and fourth quarter to remain in control until the final buzzer.

Mesa will have a big test on Wednesday as they welcome No. 9 Pima to Theo Heap Gymnasium for a conference contest. 

Breakout T-Birds:

  • Britany Kogbara scored a season high 16 points (7th game in double figures this season) as she shot 6-9 from the field and made all four of her free throws. Kogbara also grabbed eight rebounds in the contest.

  • Kamiyah Hurd scored 13 points (4th straight game in double figures) as she went 6-10 from the free throw stripe while grabbing seven rebounds.

  • Ashiian Hunter had 12 points (5th time in double figures this season) while collecting four assists.
