AMYA BEKELE NAMED ACCAC DIVISION II WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mesa Community College's Amya Bekele has been named the ACCAC Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week after a standout performance against a pair of NJCAA Division I opponents.

Bekele averaged 14.5 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist per game in matchups against Central Arizona College and South Plains College. She posted 17 points and 7 rebounds in Mesa's 63–60 win over Central Arizona and followed with 12 points and 9 rebounds against nationally ranked South Plains.

The sophomore guard was highly efficient throughout the week, shooting 52.6% (10-of-19) from the field, 45.5% (5-of-11) from three-point range, and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
