CARMELLA GALLARDO NAMED ALL-REGION 2ND TEAM

Mesa Community College Women's Basketball guard Carmella Gallardo has been named to the Region I Division II All-Region Second Team following a standout season for the Thunderbirds.

Gallardo averaged 11.7 points per game while shooting an efficient 50.4% from the field, 47.2% from three-point range, and 72.2% from the free throw line. Her 47.2% three-point shooting led all players among ACCAC Division II teams, making her one of the most dangerous perimeter shooters in the conference.

Throughout the season, Gallardo recorded eight games with 15 points or more and eight games with three or more made three-pointers, consistently providing offensive production for the T-Birds.

One of Gallardo's most memorable performances came against South Mountain, where she tied the Mesa program record for most three-pointers made in a single game with 11. In that contest, she erupted for 45 points, delivering one of the top individual performances in program history.

Her play during conference competition also earned her ACCAC Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors in Week 10, highlighting her impact during the stretch run of the season.

Gallardo's ability to score efficiently and stretch the floor played a key role in Mesa's success this season, earning her recognition as one of the top guards in NJCAA Region I Division II.
