Thongbai paces women's golf's 49-shot win at Pima Invitational

  TUCSON, AZ - Charatta Thongbai (So., Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) produced the best round of the tournament each day, shooting a 75-71--146 as the Mesa women scored a 49-shot victory at the Pima Invitational. The event at the Silverbell G.C. concluded Monday.

 The T-Birds had their second best single-round score in three years with a 302 Monday to finish at 308-302--610. South Mountain was second at 331-328--659 with Pima third, carding a 349-360--709.

  Thongbai took medal honors by eight shots over teammate Jill Harveson (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) who closed with a steady 77-77--154.

  Sierra Myerscough (So., Champaign, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) tied for third place at 78-77--155. 

  Mesa's Brianna Medrano (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) and Jacquelyn Porman (So., Gilbert, AZ/Chandler H.S.) tied for fifth place. Medrano carded a 78-78--156 and Porman a 79-77--156.

  Mesa will next play in the Red Rocks Invitational at the Oak Creek G.C., in Sedona, AZ, March 27-28.
