THUNDERBIRD WOMEN'S GOLF SITS T-5TH AFTER ROUND 1 OF NJCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

 Mesa Community College Women's Golf opened play at the 2026 NJCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championships on Tuesday at Ol' Colony Golf Complex, finishing round one tied for fifth place in the team standings.

The Thunderbirds carded a team score of +51 after the opening round of competition. Shelton State Community College leads the field at +32, followed by Murray State College (+33) and Jefferson State Community College (+37).

Abree Germaine paced the Thunderbirds with an opening round score of 77 (+5), placing her tied for fifth individually heading into round two. Germaine recorded four birdies during her round, including back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11.

Sara Sawyer also finished inside the top-25 after round one, carding an 85 (+13) to sit tied for 25th overall. Annalise Kooner followed with an 87 (+15), while Elina Beyer and Addison Miller each posted rounds of 90 (+18).

Mesa entered the national tournament as the No. 8 ranked team in the field and remains firmly in contention heading into the second round of the four-day championship event.
