Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds women's soccer team avenge an earlier season loss to the Scottsdale Artichokes Thursday night as they defeated the Artichokes, 2-1.
Also nice for Mesa is this one counts towards their conference record, as they now have a 4-1 conference record.
Annabella Bara scored Mesa's first goal in the 29th minute, her 12th goal on the season, to give the T-Birds a 1-0 advantage. The Artichokes tied it before halftime.
In the 70th minute of play, Mercedes Serrano, who started the match as goalie and allowed the Artichokes lone goal, redeemed herself by netting Mesa's go ahead goal, her third of the season.
Mesa executed their game plan throughout the 90 minutes, not allowing Scottsdale to get into their offensive attack.
The T-Birds are now 8-3-1 overall on the season and will head to Douglas, AZ on Saturday to face the Cochise Apaches.
