WOMEN'S TENNIS SWEEPS PARADISE VALLEY TO STAY UNDEFEATED IN CONFERENCE PLAY
Mesa Community College women's tennis delivered a dominant performance, sweeping Paradise Valley Community College 9-0 to remain unbeaten in conference play at 3-0.
The Thunderbirds set the tone early in doubles, taking all three flights in convincing fashion. The No. 1 pair of Lucia Madrid-Schleicher & Karla Ornelas rolled to an 8-0 win, while Jeslyn Berry and Ava Fragua secured an 8-3 victory at No. 2. Josiephine Shinkle and Aliana Kelsey capped doubles with another shutout, 8-0, at No. 3.
Mesa carried that momentum into singles, sweeping all six matches in straight sets.
At the top spot, Madird-Schleicher controlled play in a 6-1, 6-1 win. Ornelas followed with a matching 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2. Fragua and Berry each posted dominant 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
Shinkle added a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5, and Kelsey closed out the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 result at No. 6.
Mesa's complete performance across both doubles and singles secured the shutout and continued its strong start in ACCAC play.
