WOMEN’S TENNIS FINISHES 10TH AT NJCAA DIVISION II NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, BEST FINISH SINCE 2017
Mesa Community College placed 10th nationally at the NJCAA Division II Women's Tennis National Championships, marking the program's best finish since 2017 when the Thunderbirds took 8th.
Mesa totaled 18.5 points against a competitive 21-team field, highlighted by multiple deep runs in both singles and doubles play.
Ava Fragua led the way in the back draw, capturing a tournament title to give the Thunderbirds a standout performance.
In the main draw, Karla Ornelas, Josephine Shinkle, and Aliana Kelsey each advanced to the quarterfinals, providing strong late-round representation for Mesa in singles competition.
Doubles play also produced results, as Lucia Madrid-Schleicher and Karla Ornelas reached the quarterfinals of the main draw.
In additional back draw action, Jeslyn Berry advanced to the final, finishing as runner-up.
The Thunderbirds' top-10 finish caps a strong season and signals continued success for the program on the national stage.
