MESA TRACK & FIELD RECAP: CAC INDOOR

Mesa Community College Track & Field continued its indoor season with a strong weekend showing that produced multiple national qualifiers, event wins, and personal records across both squads.

NO. 9 WOMEN

Lucy Melzer led the way on the track, taking third in the 600 meters (1:41.01) before winning the 1000 meters in 2:59.77. Katelyn Munoz punched her ticket to nationals with a first-place finish in the 800 meters (2:21.80), while Olivia Scroggins placed third in the event at 2:38.91.

In the field events, Paige Hanchett qualified for nationals in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.35 meters. The throws group added key points as A'Ryah Clark finished second in the shot put (11.73m) and Maleah Tucker placed third (11.62m). Tucker closed the day with a victory in the weight throw at 16.35 meters.

NO. 9 MEN

The middle distance crew highlighted the men's performance. Corbin Pyle won the 800 meters and qualified for nationals in 1:55.66, with Benett Kaup (1:56.77) and Brady Moar (1:56.77) finishing second and third. Jaden Laffitte secured a national mark in the 200 meters (21.19), while Michael Valenzuela (48.78) and Jaiden Meriwether (48.95) each posted new personal records in the 400. Calvin Schnepf finished runner-up in the mile at 4:24.01.

The 4x400 relay of Seth Henry, Jaiden Meriwether, Jaden Laffitte, and Michael Valenzuela won the event and qualified for nationals. In the field, Keian Evans took second in the weight throw (15.71m), DeAndre Gatlin won the high jump with a 2.04m clearance, and Connor Wilson captured first in the pole vault at 4.48m.

Mesa returns to competition Friday and Saturday at the GCC Multis & Indoor meet.
