T-BIRDS HOLD NATIONS TOP MARKS AS NATIONALS APPROACH

Mesa Community College Track & Field continues to make a strong statement during the indoor season, posting several of the nation's top qualifying marks as the T-Birds position themselves for the NJCAA Indoor National Championships.

Leading the way is standout thrower Maleah Tucker, who owns the nation's top mark in the weight throw. Tucker's dominance in the circle has been a cornerstone for Mesa's women's squad and reinforces her status as one of the premier field athletes in the NJCAA this season.

In the field events, Mesa's pole vault crew has also surged into the national spotlight. Michael Mickelson sits fourth nationally in the men's pole vault, while Paige Hanchett ranks ninth on the women's side and Connor Wilson is tenth in the men's standings. High jumper DeAndre Gatlin adds to the field event success with the fifth-best clearance in the country.

On the track, Mesa's relays have produced elite performances. The men's 4x800 relay of Corbin Pyle, Caden Hardison, Deng Majak, and Michael Valenzuela holds the seventh-best composite time nationally, matching the women's 4x800 of Lucy Melzer, Katelyn Munoz, Evalyn Perez, and Olivia Baker, which also ranks seventh. The women's distance medley relay team of Kinley Jackson, Evalyn Perez, Katelyn Munoz, and Lucy Melzer sits eighth overall, showcasing the program's depth in middle & long distance events.

Individually, distance standout Lucy Melzer rounds out the list with the tenth-best mark in the mile, continuing her record-breaking campaign and giving Mesa another strong contender on the national stage.
