TRACK & FIELD TOTALS 16 ALL-AMERICANS AT OUTDOOR NATIONALS

The Mesa Community College track & field teams wrapped up competition at the NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Hobbs, New Mexico with multiple All-American performances, school records, and podium finishes against the nation's top competition.

The Thunderbird men finished 19th overall with 12.82 points while the women placed 16th with 17 points.

The men's squad was highlighted by several All-American efforts in the field events and middle-distance races. DeAndre Gatlin earned All-American honors after tying for eighth in the high jump with a clearance of 2.02 meters.

In the pole vault, Connor Wilson cleared 4.56 meters to finish tied for seventh and earn All-American honors while Michael Mickelson took fifth at 4.71 meters to also secure All-American status.

Brayden Faris posted a new personal record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.48 seconds while Jonathan Korolsky narrowly missed qualifying for the finals in the 110-meter hurdles after running 14.53 seconds.

In the hammer throw, Keian Evans earned All-American honors with a seventh-place finish and throw of 54.34 meters.

The men's 4x800-meter relay team of Deng Majak, Michael Valenzuela, Josef Iker, and Corbin Pyle delivered one of the top performances of the meet for the Thunderbirds, taking sixth overall in a school-record time of 7:32.28 to earn All-American honors.

Majak also added an individual All-American performance in the 800 meters, finishing sixth in 1:51.72.

On the women's side, Maleah Tucker continued her standout season by earning two All-American honors. Tucker finished as the national runner-up in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.65 meters while also placing sixth in the shot put at 13.42 meters.

Paige Hanchett secured All-American honors in the pole vault after clearing 3.46 meters to finish seventh overall.

The women's 4x800-meter relay team of Lucy Melzer, Kinley Jackson, Marley Peay, and Katelyn Munoz earned All-American honors with a fifth-place finish in a school-record time of 9:19.05.

Peay also narrowly missed earning another All-American finish in the heptathlon, placing ninth overall and finishing just 39 points shy of eighth place.
