Anderson and Avechuco earn Week 1 ACCAC honors

The Lady T-Bird Volleyball team received the accolades deserved after standout performances in their 3-2 upset against No. 2 Scottsdale last Friday.

Freshman Brianna Anderson won ACCAC DII Defensive Player of the Week after her 41 dig and 11 assist performance. Anderson was a calming presence and the backbone of the T-Bird defense according to head coach Jordan Herrington.

Freshman teammate Marley Avechuco earned ACCAC DII Offensive Player of the Week honors after she had 21 kills, 18 digs, 3 blocks, and a .254 hitting percentage. 

In the 5th and deciding set, Avechuco had six kills on eight attempts to help propel Mesa to victory.
