Mesa Community College outside hitter Lindsey Leavitt has been selected as the ACCAC DII Player of the Year following a dominant freshman season.

Leavitt ranked second among DII players with 273 kills, averaging 2.73 kills per set and posting a .251 hitting percentage. She totaled 330 points and added 58 blocks, playing a key role in leading Mesa to its first ACCAC title under head coach Jordan Herrington. Leavitt's consistency helped the Thunderbirds secure a 20-7 (12-0 ACCAC) record and a spot among the NJCAA's Top 15 nationally throughout the regular season.

This season Leavitt collected 16 double digit kill matches, including nine matches with a .250 hitting percentage or higher in addition to six matches with a .300 hitting percentage or higher. Leavitt was the ACCAC DII Offensive Player of the Week three times in her freshman campaign.

Head Coach Jordan Herrington praised Leavitt's perseverance and impact on the program:

"Lindsey's journey is one of resilience and belief. After suffering an injury in high school and missing out on club volleyball, she wasn't sure if college volleyball would ever be part of her story. But after our conversation, she decided to give it a try and from the moment she stepped on campus, she's been an absolute sponge. Lindsey shows up every day with the same focus and energy—you'd never know if she's winning or losing. Her growth is the result of relentless hard work and an unwavering drive to be great. Lindsey fought through it all and became that girl—the one who defines what dedication truly looks like to be the best she can possibly be for her team," said coach Herrington.
