Mesa Community College Volleyball was honored with the 2025 NJCAA Division II Volleyball National Championships Sportsmanship Award, recognizing the program's integrity, professionalism, and representation of the college throughout the national tournament in Cedar Rapids.
The award is presented to the team that best embodies respect for opponents, officials, event staff, and the championship environment. Mesa stood out across all five matches, displaying competitive excellence while upholding the standards of the NJCAA and the spirit of collegiate athletics.
The Thunderbirds finished 6th nationally after entering as the No. 9 seed, earning victories over No. 18 Davidson-Davie, No. 10 St. Johns River State, and No. 3 Parkland, while also posting the program's highest win total under Head Coach Jordan Abalos Herrington.
This marks a meaningful recognition for a team that not only competed at an elite level, but represented MCC with pride on the national stage.
