Collins wins individual title as cross country women place second at ACCAC championship

  Mesa, AZ – Freshman Ellis Collins won the individual title at the ACCAC women's cross country championship, helping lead MCC to a second place team finish.

  Mesa scored 44 points for the 15th-ranked T-Birds to trail only No. 6 Central Arizona which totaled 26. Paradise Valley was third with 60.

  Collins covered the 5k course in 18:36.6. Maggie Orr was seventh in 19:36.3 and Gabby Wiswell took tenth place with a time of 20.00.9.

  Mesa next runs again on Saturday Oct. 5 when it hosts the Mesa Classic.

  Five Meas women earned all-conference honors. Collins was on the first team along with Maggie Orr. Gabby Wiswell and Tanaeya Johnson are second team runners and Niji Hunter is on the third team.
