No. 9 Women's Basketball takes on No. 1 Kirkwood in Quarterfinals of NJCAA National Championship

No. 9 Mesa Women's Basketball takes on No. 1 Kirkwood in the Quarterfinals of the NJCAA DII Women's Basketball Championship on Thursday.

The Lady T-Birds are coming off a 61-51 victory over No. 8 Highland Community College on Tuesday. Though Mesa's Britany Kogbara was in foul trouble, teammates Kamiyah Hurd, Bella Barrett and Ashiian Hunter all stepped up to score double digits in the victory.

The defending champion Eagles roll into the matchup against Mesa with a perfect 32-0 (18-0) record this season with their last loss coming last season back on Jan. 3, 2024. Kirkwood defeated No. 17 Rock Valley College, 84-75 in the second round to punch their ticket to the quarterfinals. Three Eagles starters scored in double figures led by Kaliyah Sain who had 15. Eva Steffenen & Jariah Harris each scored in double digits off the bench.

This is a rematch of the 2024 National Championship Semifinals where the Eagles stifling defense was the difference in their 66-43 victory. 

The game tips off at 5:00 p.m. CT  3:00 p.m. MST and can be watched live on the NJCAA Network.
