NO. 11 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO NO. 12 PIMA ON SATURDAY

No. 11 MCC Women's Basketball dropped a hard fought 76–69 decision to No. 12 Pima Community College on Saturday at Theo Heap Gymnasium, moving to 15-5 overall (9-2  ACCAC).

The game featured nine lead changes across the opening three quarters, with Mesa holding narrow advantages after the first (16–14) and third (47–46). Pima surged in the fourth behind efficient scoring and second-chance points, outscoring Mesa 26–22 in the final period to pull away late.

Lakeisha Robinson led the way for Mesa with a season high 25 points, finishing 9-of-19 from the floor and 7-of-10 at the free-throw line. Sydnee Patterson added 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, while Carmella Gallardo recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Meisha Caserio chipped in 10 points and four assists as Mesa placed four players in double figures.

Mesa forced 15 turnovers and converted 21 points off those miscues, while the bench accounted for 25 points all coming from Robinson. The difference came on the glass, where Pima held a 46–28 rebounding edge and scored 21 second chance points, compared to the T-Birds two. 

Following the result, MCC sits second in the ACCAC DII standings with seven conference games remaining as the T-Birds continue their push toward postseason positioning on Wednesday as they travel to take on South Mountain Community College.
