No. 15 Mesa Volleyball takes to the court on Wednesday for their opening match in the 2024 NJCAA DII Volleyball National Championship. The Lady T-Birds find themselves in a first round matchup against the No. 18 Mott Community College Bears out of Region 12.
The Bears enter play with a 27-6 (12-0) record after winning the Great Lakes District A Championship over St. Clair County Community College.
Mesa punched their ticket to the big dance in Cedar Rapids, IA after running the table at the Region I tournament as the No. 4 seed. Mesa displayed their never give up mentality, fighting off the No. 1 seed Glendale after falling down two sets to none and No. 2 Scottsdale in set five of the title game after falling down 5-0.
If Mesa defeats Mott they will take on No. 2 Parkland later Wednesday night. If the T-Birds fall they will find themselves in the consolation bracket where they will take on the loser in the No. 1 seed vs. No. 15/No. 16 seed matchup on Thursday morning.
The T-Birds begin their quest for a national championship at 11:00 a.m. CST / 10:00 a.m. MST.
