Sept. 19: Mesa 3, Cleveland CC 1
The No. 10 MCC Volleyball opened its two-match series against Cleveland CC with a 3–1 victory on Friday night at Theo Heap Gymnasium (25-14, 25-15, 23-25, 25-13). The Thunderbirds improved to 11-2 overall (4-0 ACCAC) with the win.
Marley Cortez led the charge with 18 kills and 15 digs, while Lindsey Leavitt added 10 kills on .348 hitting. Aolani Motu was also a factor with nine kills and three blocks, and Gracie McArthur hit .500 with five kills and six block assists. Setters Isabella Jackson (26 assists, two aces) and Etta Henson (17 assists, two aces) kept the offense balanced. Libero Brianna Anderson finished with nine digs and five assists.
Sept. 20: Mesa 3, Cleveland CC 0
Mesa completed the weekend sweep of Cleveland CC on Saturday night, cruising to a straight-set win (25-12, 25-21, 25-18). The Thunderbirds hit .260 as a team with 44 kills, moving their record to 12-2 overall (4-0 ACCAC).
Marley Cortez once again paced the attack with 12 kills and 12 digs, while Gracie McArthur was dominant at the net, hitting .583 with eight kills and five blocks. Regan McFarland chipped in seven kills and eight digs, and Aolani Motu tallied six kills with three blocks. Isabella Jackson (19 assists, two aces, 10 digs) and Etta Henson (17 assists, two aces, seven digs) distributed efficiently, while Brianna Anderson anchored the defense with 19 digs.
The Lady T-Birds will be back in action on Wednesday night at home as they host No. 24 Scottsdale CC.
