Glendale Community College
Mesa Community College Baseball capped a busy four game stretch with a 3-1 week, highlighted by dominant pitching from Daniel Hesse and a monster offensive week from Reid Linkmeyer.
Mesa opened the stretch on the road at Phoenix College with a 9-6 win, piling up 15 hits in a balanced attack. Linkmeyer led the way with three hits, including a double and triple, while driving in two runs and scoring twice as the T-Birds built an early cushion and held on late.
The T-Birds followed with a wild 12-11 victory back at home, drawing nine walks and producing 12 hits in the back-and-forth contest. Jesse Aguirre and Liam Schilling each drove in three runs, while Isaac Low scored three times to help Mesa outlast the Bears. The game was called in the seventh inning due to darkness.
Mesa then traveled to Glendale and delivered its most complete performance of the week in a 4-0 shutout. Hesse dominated on the mound, tossing seven scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out 10. Linkmeyer supplied the key blow with a two-run home run to break the game open.
Glendale responded in the finale with a 9-3 win despite another extra-base hit from Linkmeyer, handing Mesa its lone loss of the stretch.
Weekly Standouts
Linkmeyer put together one of the top offensive weeks in the conference, finishing the four-game stretch with three triples, one home run, seven RBIs, and five runs scored while consistently delivering in key moments. On the mound, Hesse anchored the staff with his seven-ining shutout and 10 strikeouts in the win at Glendale.
After the busy week, Mesa improved its overall record to 11-3 (4-2 ACCAC).
The T-Birds return to action Tuesday at home against Scottsdale Community College before heading on the road Wednesday for a rematch with the Artichokes.
